Opel continues to develop the theme of "expressive and pure design," says brand vice president Mark Adams. This is reflected in the new wider radiator grille and headlights, which have not only changed their shape but also their pattern: the daytime running lights are now located at the bottom rather than the top. The Insignia also has different bumpers and new taillights; the elongated exhaust tips, previously exclusive to the Sports Tourer wagon, are now also available on the Grand Sport liftback.

The main technical innovation is the IntelliLux LED Pixel Light matrix headlights with 168 LED elements instead of the previous 32. The headlights have several operating modes that improve visibility in bad weather, in corners, on highways, and even when parking. In addition, the Opel Insignia has received a new rear-view camera, several multimedia system options with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, as well as optional ergonomic front seats and wireless smartphone charging.

The list of electronic assistants includes rear cross-traffic alert (sensors detect movement at a distance of 20 meters from the car at a 90-degree angle on the left and right sides), emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and parking assistance systems. The e-Call emergency call module is activated manually or automatically after the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners deploy.
