At the start of sales, the Aston Martin DBX crossover will be offered exclusively with a four-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 550 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. With this unit, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and its top speed reaches 291 km/h.
Because of this, the new model turned out to be less dynamic than its direct rivals — the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus. For comparison: the former, equipped with a 608-horsepower W12 engine, accelerates to 100 km/h 0.4 seconds faster, and its maximum speed is 301 km/h. The Urus with a 650-horsepower twin-turbo V8 reaches 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, and its top speed is 305 km/h.
Palmer noted that the crossover's chassis design allows for the installation of a more powerful V12 engine, which is already used in the DB11 supercar's engine lineup. This refers to a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged unit paired with the same 9-speed automatic transmission. In the top AMR version of the supercar, this engine develops 640 horsepower.
