The new model will feature LED daytime running lights in the shape of the letter L, similar fog lights, and updated rear lighting with dynamic turn signals. The tailgate will also bear a large inscription with the model name — a similar design approach was already used on the updated Superb.
The car is based on a refined MQB platform, with a wheelbase of 2686 mm. The Czech company previously reported that the liftback's trunk holds 600 liters, while the estate's holds 640 liters. The drag coefficient is 0.24 for the liftback and 0.26 for the estate.
The engine lineup will include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 110 and 150 horsepower, respectively. More expensive versions will get a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 190 horsepower. A 2.0-liter diesel is also planned, available in 115, 150, and 200 horsepower variants. The units will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, as well as a seven-speed DSG working in conjunction with a 48-volt starter-generator.
In addition, the next-generation Octavia will get two hybrid versions. Their powertrain will combine a 1.4-liter turbo engine and an electric motor, with a combined output of 204 or 245 horsepower. For some markets, a gas-powered modification with a 1.5-liter engine producing 130 horsepower will also be available.
The premiere of the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia is scheduled for November 11, 2019, as part of a special event in Prague. The manufacturer will announce information about the start of sales and prices later.
