A distinctive feature of the crossover is the small rear-hinged doors that open against the direction of travel. In particular, this solution was used on the RX-8 sports car, which the Japanese produced from 2003 to 2012. The exterior of the Mazda MX-30 became a further development of the proprietary Kodo design philosophy. In addition, some stylistic solutions are borrowed from the new generation Mazda3 family.

The e-Skyactiv electric system consists of a unit producing 105 kW (143 hp) and 265 N·m of torque. The electric motor is powered by a block of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 35.5 kWh, which allows driving up to 200 kilometers without recharging. Using a special system, the battery charge can be replenished from 0% to 80% in 30–40 minutes.

The proprietary G-Vectoring traction control system was adapted for the electric powertrain, which can, if necessary, reduce torque to increase load on the front axle. In this case, the tire contact patch increases, allowing corners to be taken with less body roll.

According to preliminary data, order acceptance for the production MX-30 will begin in the summer of next year, and the first cars will reach European customers in early 2021.
