The render was created based on recent spy photos. Judging by the image, the new Mazda CX-5 will retain the familiar design with a smile-shaped grille and narrow headlights, although the exterior will feature more sharp edges.

But the technical content will be completely new. The fact is that the crossover, like the new Mazda 6, will move to a rear-wheel-drive platform with a longitudinally mounted engine. The model will become more expensive and move into the premium class.

Moreover, a three-liter inline turbo-six with about 400 hp is even being prepared for the Mazda CX-5. It will be installed on the top version, while cheaper variants will retain the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. A Mazda CX-5 hybrid is also expected. All modifications will be equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and rear- and all-wheel-drive options are expected.
