The Reuters agency quotes the head of Toyota Motor's board of directors, Takeshi Uchiyamada, who announced this information at an international forum dedicated to hydrogen technologies.
The hydrogen sedan was first presented in 2014. Under the hood, there is a power unit with 153 horsepower. Acceleration from zero to hundred takes nine seconds. The range reaches 480 kilometers, and a full refueling of the "tank" takes about five minutes.
As an option for the Mirai, the Power take off system is available, turning the car into a mobile charging station. According to the manufacturer, such a sedan can supply electricity to a typical Japanese home for a week.
Sales of the model began at the end of 2014, and demand immediately exceeded the company's expectations several times. For 2015, one and a half thousand applications were collected, even though Toyota planned to produce only 400 cars by the end of the year.
