The overall length of the car compared to its predecessor has increased by 39 mm to 4939 mm, and the width has increased by 7 mm to 2010 millimeters. The wheelbase has been stretched to 2935 mm (+20 mm), but it still turned out to be 60 mm shorter than that of the standard new-generation GLE.

As for the exterior, one of the main changes is the roof with a more sloping line, giving the crossover greater resemblance to a coupe. In addition, the GLE Coupe can be distinguished from its predecessor by a more prominent radiator grille, upgraded LED headlights, and narrowed taillights.

The interior almost completely replicates the interior space of the regular GLE. The crossover received the MBUX infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster combined with a multimedia display of the same diagonal. The system has a voice control function with understanding of live speech and the ability for further self-learning.

At the start of sales in Europe, the new product will be available with a three-liter six-cylinder diesel engine, presented in two stages of boost. The base version produces 272 hp and 600 N·m of torque, while the more powerful modification develops 330 hp and 700 newton-meters. Both engines work in conjunction with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

In addition, along with the standard model, a "charged" version from AMG with the index 53 debuted. This crossover is equipped with a power plant operating on the "mild hybrid" scheme. The three-liter gasoline inline twin-turbo "six" works together with a 22-horsepower starter-generator powered by a 48-volt on-board electrical network. The car is capable of reaching the first "hundred" in 5.3 seconds, and its maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km per hour.
