The exterior changes are limited to a slightly modified front bumper and newly designed aluminum alloy wheels. At the same time, the company noted that the cars underwent a series of wind tunnel tests and also received active grille shutters, which improved fuel economy. The hatchback has a drag coefficient of 0.26, while the station wagon has 0.25. Opel representatives claim this is the best figure in the class.

The updated Astra will be available with new petrol and diesel engines from the PSA alliance. These are 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged units producing 110 hp (195 Nm of torque), 130 hp (225 Nm), and 145 hp (225 Nm).

The diesel lineup is represented by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine available in two states of tune: 103 hp (260 Nm) and 122 hp (300 Nm). The base engine works only with a six-speed manual gearbox, but the others can also be paired with a nine-speed automatic.

Optionally, the Opel Astra is now equipped with a new front camera that recognizes other vehicles, pedestrians, and road signs. In addition, a wireless charging station for smartphones, a fully digital instrument cluster, and an improved multimedia system with an eight-inch touchscreen are available.
