The Audi A4 (whose body index remained the same — B9) received new front and rear bumpers, fenders with different stamping, doors with a lower beltline, as well as a radiator grille of a modified shape. The grille design differs and depends on the trim level. For example, regular cars have horizontal slats in it. For versions with the S and S-line lettering, the grille has a honeycomb structure, while the Allroad features chrome vertical gills similar to the latest Q-series Audi crossovers.

The facelifted Audi A4 received a new family of engines that represent a microhybrid system. An integrated circuit with a 12- or 48-volt chain and an additional battery is built into the on-board network of all modifications, which powers most of the car's electrical systems, allowing to reduce the load on the engine and, accordingly, save fuel.

At the same time, the A4 lost its base 1.4-liter engine. After the facelift, the initial engines for the A4 are 2-liter diesel four-cylinders with 136 hp (30 TDI version) or 163 hp (35 TDI). The alternative to diesels is a 2-liter gasoline turbo engine with 150 hp (35 TFSI version).

One step higher are the 40 TDI (190 hp) and 45 TFSI (249 hp) versions. The lineup of modifications is closed by the new top version S5 with a diesel under the hood. The three-liter turbocharged six-cylinder develops 347 hp and 700 newton-meters.

In addition, the car received a new MMI multimedia system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a set of services that allow monitoring traffic: loading traffic jams in real time and even catching the "green wave" of traffic lights.
