According to the patent documentation, the eight-cylinder engine will be responsible for driving the rear wheels, while the front axle will be taken over by two electric motors. This hybrid scheme promises increased power and all-wheel drive without the need to install massive and complex mechanical components.

In addition, the system will include a starter-generator, which will provide power to the electric motors and at the same time reduce the load on the vehicle's batteries.

Apparently, such a hybrid powertrain will appear on the next generation of the Mustang, the premiere of which is expected no earlier than 2020.
