The WRX STI S209 received a significantly refined 2.5-liter boxer engine with an output of 345 hp. The engine features an enlarged high-pressure turbocharger and a drive supercharger.

In addition, Subaru Tecnica International engineers used reinforced forged pistons and connecting rods, a new intercooler, larger injectors, a reprogrammed engine control unit, and hand-polished stainless steel exhaust pipes.

The powertrain works in conjunction with a specially tuned six-speed manual transmission and a permanent all-wheel drive system. Additionally, the sedan received a central self-locking differential and an active torque distribution system.

Furthermore, the new top version is equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers with stiffer springs, a new rear anti-roll bar, and six-piston Brembo brake calipers at the front.

Sales of the Subaru WRX STI S209 in the American market will begin closer to the end of the year. Prices for the model have not yet been disclosed.
