The design of the new model was developed in the Californian city of Irvine. The distinctive features of the new crossover include an impressive radiator grille, as well as originally styled LED optics.

The interior boasts a 10.25-inch touchscreen enclosed in a separate block. The media center supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces. In addition, the crossover is available with a 630-watt Harman Kardon audio system with 10 speakers, six USB ports, and a wireless charging station for smartphones.
Under the hood of the Kia Telluride is a 3.8-liter gasoline V6, which also powers the previously presented Hyundai Palisade crossover. The engine develops the same 295 hp and 355 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Telluride will be offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. A total of six driving modes are available: Smart, Eco, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and AWD Lock. In the first two cases, torque is transmitted exclusively to the front axle, while when Comfort or Snow is engaged, torque is distributed in a 80:20 ratio favoring the front axle. In Sport mode, the distribution is 65:35 in favor of the front wheels, and in the off-road AWD Lock mode, torque is distributed equally between the axles.
The list of electronic assistants includes blind-spot monitoring, surround-view, and lane-keeping systems, as well as a head-up display and adaptive cruise control.

Production of the Kia Telluride crossover will be set up at a plant in Georgia, where the Sorento and Optima models are also produced. Prices for the new model have not yet been announced.
