The Mustang GT500 is equipped with a 5.2-liter V8 engine with a 2.65-liter supercharger. According to the manufacturer, the engine produces more than 700 hp, but exact figures are not yet available.
The unit works in conjunction with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, specially tuned by Ford Performance. The gearbox, capable of shifting gears in 100 milliseconds, has several modes, including Normal, Sport, Drag, and Track, as well as a Launch Control function.

The GT500 version is capable of accelerating from standstill to 96 km/h in about three seconds. A quarter-mile (402 meters) drag race is completed in less than 11 seconds.
The new top variant received a retuned suspension with new-generation MagneRide dampers and lightweight springs, as well as six-piston Brembo brakes with 420-millimeter discs. In addition, a carbon fiber aero kit and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are available for the model.
American sales of the Ford Mustang GT500 will begin in the fall. Prices for the model have not yet been disclosed.
