Kia Sportage 2022 dimensions
Both the European and Asian-American Sportage 2022 (fifth generation) are built on the same platform, but their dimensions differ noticeably. Thus, the length of the "European" is 4,515 mm, while the global SUV is 4,660 mm (a difference of 133 mm). The wheelbase is 2,680 mm and 2,755 mm respectively.
Despite this, Kia claims that the European Sportage combines practicality and functionality well due to a well-thought-out interior layout (hinting that the car hasn't lost much in these parameters). Its trunk is only 46 liters smaller (591 liters; with seats folded – 1,780 liters), and the rear legroom is about the same – for example, legroom is 996 mm (versus 1,050 mm for the global version).

In terms of appearance, the European crossover differs only at the rear: it has a "blind" C-pillar (the Asian and American version has a third window) and a shorter overhang. Additionally, the bumpers are styled slightly differently.

For the Old World market, the Sportage comes with a wide range of powertrains – gasoline, diesel, and even hybrid setups. The latter are represented by one plug-in hybrid (265 hp; 1.6 T-GDI with 180 hp plus an electric motor with 66.9 kW and a 13.8 kWh battery) and one conventional hybrid (230 hp; the same 1.6 T-GDI with 180 hp, a 44.2 kW electric motor, and a 1.49 kWh battery). These versions are called Sportage PHEV and Sportage HEV respectively.
Gasoline engines are 1.6 T-GDI with 150 and 180 hp. Both are complemented by a "mild hybrid" system. As for diesel, these are also 1.6-liter engines, but with 115 and 136 hp.

Kia stated that the European Sportage has slightly different suspension and steering settings (but did not specify exactly which). As for driver assistance systems, the crossover has plenty: for example, there is a forward collision avoidance system with collision warning, as well as adaptive cruise control that automatically adjusts speed depending on the road topography and works together with lane keeping assist and speed control.
Top trims include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch multimedia screen.
When can you buy Kia Sportage 2022
Production of the car starts at the end of 2021, so it will likely appear at dealers in the first half of 2022. Prices will be announced later.
