The drift car is built on the platform of a classic 1977 Ford F-150 pickup truck, with its body entirely handmade from aluminum. Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged engine based on the racing Ford GT motor that won its class at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans marathon.
According to the project's creators, the powerplant develops at least 927 horsepower. The unit is paired with a six-speed Sadev transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
The first public demonstration of the Hoonitruck is scheduled for early November as part of the SEMA tuning show in Las Vegas. The car can be seen in action in the latest Gymkhana installment, premiering on December 7 on the Amazon Prime streaming service.
The tenth episode of Gymkhana features five cars, including the well-known 1400-horsepower all-wheel-drive Hoonicorn. Additionally, viewers will see several brand-new machines, including a 1991 Ford Escort Cosworth modified to Group A rally specifications. Filming will take place at ten different locations around the world.
