Spy shots were published by the Motor1 portal. According to the source, the start of serial production is scheduled for 2020. The German concern will allocate 80 million euros for this project. The new model will be assembled at the plant in Osnabrück.
The photos show that the appearance of the model almost repeats the standard T-Roc, which debuted in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The two-door version will be more compact and will get front-wheel drive. According to unofficial information, under the hood will be a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 150 hp. A version with a two-liter petrol unit producing 190 hp is also expected.
So far, open crossovers are rare. For example, Land Rover experimented with the Range Rover Evoque, equipping it with a soft folding roof and a spoiler. Similar solutions were previously used by Nissan (Murano with a soft top) and Chrysler (PT Cruiser convertible).
