The debut of the new model is scheduled for the end of this year. Most likely, the car will be presented to a wide audience at the Geneva Motor Show, which will take place in March. The model will replace the Rapid in the Skoda lineup.

The design of the new model will use the same style as the Vision RS concept shown at the Paris Motor Show. The car will be based on the A0 MQB platform — this architecture is already used for a number of compact and mid-size cars, from the new Volkswagen Polo to the Skoda Kodiaq crossover. The manufacturer does not yet disclose other details about the future model.

Behind the scenes, it is said that the engine range will be replenished with fresh 1.5-liter gasoline turbo units, producing from 125 to 150 horsepower depending on the version. They will be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. In terms of dimensions, the new model is expected to surpass the current Rapid.
