The new crossover will be built on the MQB A0 platform, which, in particular, underpins the sixth-generation Polo. The car's length will be 4,107 mm. Thus, the new model will take a place one step below the T-Roc. The closest competitor to the Volkswagen T-Cross will be the Nissan Juke.

Depending on the market, customers will be offered different engines. In Europe, the car will be available with 1.0- and 1.5-liter petrol engines. The crossover will also be equipped with a 1.6-liter diesel engine. The power of the units will range from 95 to 150 hp. Transmissions — a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic. The car will be offered only with a front-wheel drive system.
The crossover will use a number of stylistic solutions from the concept car of the same name, presented in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. The car's interior will feature a fully digital instrument panel and a multimedia system with a large touchscreen display. The driver will have access to a wireless smartphone charging station, a frontal collision prevention system, and a lane-keeping function.
