The smallest model of the German brand, which the company calls the "ideal companion for city life," has become one of the most equipped and technically advanced cars in its class.
The length of the new Audi A1 Sportback is 4.03 meters, width — 1.74 meters, and height — 1.4 meters. The hatchback's exterior uses design solutions intended to reference the famous Audi rally cars of the 1980s — the Ur-Quattro and Sport Quattro.

The new model is built on the Volkswagen Group's modular chassis — MQB A0, which underpins the new VW Polo and Seat Ibiza. Using this architecture allowed increasing the dimensions of the five-door version, especially in the rear part of the body. For example, legroom for rear passengers has increased, and the trunk volume has grown by 65 liters — to 335 liters.
The engine lineup of the second-generation Audi A1 includes only gasoline engines — no diesels will be offered. The base engine is a three-cylinder unit with a displacement of one liter, developing 95 and 118 horsepower. Additionally, the hatchback will be available with a 1.5-liter "turbo-four" producing 150 horsepower. Transmissions — six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch "robot."

The top version of the A1 (40 TFSI) is equipped with a two-liter 200-horsepower turbocharged engine, working only with the six-speed S tronic gearbox. In 2019, a full-fledged "hot" modification S1 with a 250-horsepower engine and all-wheel drive will appear.
The list of available equipment for the new Audi A1 includes adaptive dampers, and top versions can be equipped with a modernized suspension with sport settings.

Standard equipment includes a proprietary fully digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch display. The hatchback offers the MMI Touch multimedia system with touchscreens of 8.8 and 10.1 inches, voice command recognition, and handwriting input — like the new flagship A8.
The list of electronic assistants includes a semi-automatic driving system with the ability to recognize cars, people, animals, and other objects on the road, as well as adaptive cruise control that operates at speeds up to 200 km/h.

European sales of the second-generation Audi A1 are expected to begin in November 2018. Prices for the new model have not yet been announced. In Russia, the current-generation model is not officially sold at the moment.
