Volvo has presented its first-ever three-cylinder powertrain, which will join the engine lineup of the XC40 crossover.
The 1.5-liter turbo engine produces 156 hp and 265 Nm of torque. For now, only a six-speed manual transmission is available with the engine, but an automatic version should appear next year.
The Volvo XC40 with the new engine can accelerate to 200 km/h, reaching 100 km/h in 8 seconds. The claimed average fuel consumption is 7 liters per 100 km.
European prices for the XC40 with the 1.5 engine start from 33,820 euros.
