Mazda CEO Masamichi Kogai shared the company's plans with the press. As the head stated, to strengthen its position in the American market, the brand will need a mid-size crossover that will slot into the model lineup between the CX-5 and the larger seven-seat CX-9.

Most likely, this refers to the revival of the CX-7 model, which was discontinued in 2012. However, during the conversation, Kogai did not directly confirm this information. Assembly of the new model is scheduled to begin in 2021 at a plant in the United States, which the company is building jointly with Toyota.
