As expected, the exterior of the production version turned out to be very close to the Detroit concept and does not fully correspond to the brand's new corporate styling. The manufacturer does not yet provide an opportunity to assess the design of the new product from the rear and inside.

The second-generation QX50 has moved to a new front-wheel-drive platform. The crossover has become 52 mm shorter (4693 mm), and the wheelbase has been reduced by 80 mm (2800 mm). At the same time, the width and height of the model have increased to 1903 (+103 mm) and 1679 (+64 mm) mm, respectively. Ground clearance has grown to 218 mm.

The main advantage of the new Infiniti QX50 is the innovative VC-Turbo engine, which, depending on the load, can smoothly change the piston stroke and adjust the compression ratio from 14.0:1 to 8.0:1 using a multi-link system. This two-liter turbo engine develops 272 hp and 380 Nm of torque.

Paired with a CVT, the powertrain accelerates the all-wheel-drive version of the crossover to 97 km/h in 6.3 seconds, while the front-wheel-drive variant takes 0.4 seconds longer. The top speed, regardless of the drive type, is 230 km/h. Average fuel consumption is stated at 8.7-9.1 l/100 km.

The equipment list of the new QX50 will include the ProPilot highway autopilot, which is responsible for acceleration, braking, and keeping the car in its lane.

US sales of the second-generation Infiniti QX50 will start in the spring, and the model will reach Europe closer to summer.
