More than half of all electric vehicles in the world were sold in China. The second largest market was Europe, accounting for 24% of sales in the third quarter. North America closes the top three.
According to experts, this year it will be possible to sell over a million electric cars for the first time. The growth in demand for electric transport became possible due to the expansion of the charging network and an increase in driving range on a single charge. In 2017, major manufacturers such as Jaguar and Volvo announced plans to produce their own electric vehicles in the near future.
A number of countries have set new targets for transitioning to eco-friendly transport. For example, France and the UK intend to ban the sale of new cars with petrol and diesel engines by 2040. The Netherlands hopes to achieve a similar result by 2030. China is also working on the possibility of phasing out cars with internal combustion engines.
