The exterior of the second generation model was styled in the spirit of the flagship A8 sedan. The liftback received a sculpted hood, more aggressive bumpers, and a new shape for the front and rear lights.

The dimensions of the new A7 Sportback have hardly changed, with the most noticeable increase being the wheelbase by 12 mm (2926 mm). The model is based on the upgraded MLB Evo platform from the new A8.

The interior has been completely transformed. In addition to the 10-inch multimedia system screen and virtual instrument cluster (12.3 inches), a separate touchscreen display was given to the climate control unit.

All versions of the A7 Sportback will be mild hybrids, which means the introduction of a 48-volt electrical system and a 12-kilowatt battery that stores energy during braking. The system allows for a certain period of driving with the engine off, significantly reducing fuel consumption.

The engine lineup has not yet been revealed. The manufacturer has only disclosed the base version A7 55 TFSI, which is equipped with a 340-horsepower 3.0 TFSI engine. It is worth noting that the new designations for modifications still look quite unusual and confusing.

The engineers also worked on the handling of the model. The rear axle of the model received a rear-wheel steering function and is capable of turning the wheels by up to 5 degrees.

As expected, the new A7 Sportback has become available with partial autopilot ADA, as well as an automatic parking system with remote control via smartphone, without the need for the driver to be behind the wheel.
