This compact SUV will replace the GLK and will go on sale in the fall – after its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15. The GLC is the first in its class to feature an active suspension with Air Body Control pneumatic struts: two-chamber units are used on the front axle, and three-chamber units on the rear. The more chambers are engaged, the softer and more comfortable the suspension becomes.
The GLC with pneumatic suspension has a maximum ground clearance of 230 mm, the standard version with coil springs has 180 mm, and modifications with coil springs and the off-road package have 200 millimeters.
Initially, the GLC will be available with two diesel and one gasoline engine, as well as in a hybrid version. Power ranges from 170 to 306 hp. The gearbox is a 7- and 9-speed automatic. Drive is all-wheel drive.
