As expected, the model is equipped with a 3.5-liter gasoline V6 with direct injection. Honda keeps the engine's power output a secret for now, but they noted that the unit features cylinder deactivation under light loads and an Idle Stop system that shuts off the engine when the car is stationary.

The key feature of the new model, from a powertrain perspective, is that it can be equipped with a six- or nine-speed automatic transmission depending on the trim level. The previous generation of the SUV was offered exclusively with a five-speed automatic transmission.

The company also noted that the Pilot has become 136 kg lighter. With front-wheel drive, it weighs 1813 kg, and with all-wheel drive – 1903 kg.
Additionally, the car features LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, heated and ventilated front seats, as well as a Display Audio infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen on the center console and a 9-inch display for rear passengers.

Among other things, the SUV has acquired an extensive list of various electronic assistants, including: stability control, traction control, front and side airbags, and tire pressure monitoring sensors. For an additional cost, features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring for side mirrors, and a forward collision warning system are available.

Production of the model will be set up at Honda's American plant. Recall that the new SUV will first appear this summer in the USA, and a little later – in other countries.
