What's new in the CLS? Externally, almost nothing. The main changes affected the technical parameters of the model. Now the car is equipped with MULTIBEAM LED headlights. Essentially, these are efficient and precise LED modules that can automatically provide the best lighting quality. Optionally, they can redistribute the light beam so as not to blind an oncoming driver, while maximizing the illuminated area.

Multibeam headlights consist of 24 LEDs, a camera on the windshield, and four control units. The light pattern can change up to 100 times per second. For example, if the computer detects no oncoming vehicles, the length of the light beam can increase by 60 meters from the standard high beam level. In addition, the system works in conjunction with the car's navigation system and can adjust lighting in advance. For example, when approaching a tunnel.

There has been a serious modernization and changes in the engine lineup, as well as the appearance of a new nine-speed automatic transmission — 9G-Tronic. There are six petrol and diesel engines in the range, as before. Only the petrol modification CLS 350 (306 hp) has changed its name to CLS 400 and is now offered with a more powerful turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 (333 hp, 480 Nm), the petrol CLS 500 remains the same with a V8 (408 hp, 600 Nm). The diesel lineup starts with the CLS 220 BlueTEC (170 hp, 400 Nm), followed by a more powerful modification CLS 250 BlueTEC (204 hp, 500 Nm), and the list ends with the most powerful diesel option — CLS 350 BlueTEC (258 hp, 620 Nm).

In terms of safety systems, driver assistance, and other options, this car can impress anyone. It has everything that the most demanding buyer could imagine. Perhaps it won't even yield to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Although no, it will... the CLS does not have a soft-close door.
