Judging by everything, the next Yeti will be built on a new platform that is currently being developed at the Volkswagen Group.
According to AutoBild, the premiere of the new generation Yeti is expected only at the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016, and the car will become noticeably more spacious. The current version has a length of 4225 mm, while the Yeti II will grow to 4300 mm — and this is in the standard version. In addition, a Yeti XXL version with an extended body and three rows of seats is planned, with a length of about 4600 mm.
The new model will be available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The engines promise to be very economical. There is no talk of a hybrid powertrain yet — for cars in the "people's" segment, such technology is too costly. But a three-cylinder engine under the hood of the Yeti may well appear, replacing the current 1.2-liter unit.
