Let's figure out the name XV. The letter X visually resembles a cross, which in English sounds like Cross — this is what gave the name to the body type "crossover", that is, a car that combines features of different styles. And V comes from the word Vehicle — a means of transportation.
The new version is built on the hatchback platform. Here's what has changed.
Exterior. A different front bumper and radiator grille — according to the authors' idea, they add "power" to the car. On the sides — body kits, wheel arch liners, and roof rails: a large amount of dark plastic contrasts with the main body color. At the rear, a large spoiler appeared, which looks like an arc above the rear window. Also, 16-inch alloy wheels with a special dark finish are installed.
Interior. Inside, everything looks attractive thanks to brown materials and red stitching. The instrument panel received a new color scheme, and the readings on it are easy to read.
Chassis. Fresh shock absorbers are installed on the rear axle, which makes the handling feel sharper and more dynamic.
That's all. This is the crossover that turned out. At the same time, XV will not be offered with a turbocharged engine — unlike the hatch, which has a 250-horsepower GT version and even an STI model. The crossover is available with a 1.5-liter engine (front or all-wheel drive, gearbox — 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic) and with a 2.0-liter unit (also all-wheel or front-wheel drive, 4-speed automatic).
So, the Impreza lineup now has three cars: the Impreza hatchback, the Impreza Anesis sedan, and the Impreza XV crossover. Prices are as follows:
- Impreza: from 1,491,000 yen ($16,600) for the 1.5-liter, 2WD, 5MT version to 2,677,500 yen ($29,800) for the 2.0-liter, turbo, 4WD, 4AT variant.
- Impreza Anesis: from 1,522,500 yen ($16,960) for 1.5 liters, 2WD, 5MT to 2,257,500 yen ($25,150) for 2.0 liters, 4WD, 4AT.
- Impreza XV: from 1,785,000 yen ($19,885) for 1.5 liters, 2WD, 5MT to 2,142,000 yen ($23,900) for 2.0 liters, 4WD, 4AT.
