The prototype will be shown to the public for the first time in March this year at the Geneva Motor Show. This new model will demonstrate what the open-top version of the new-generation Alfa Romeo 159 will look like, whose sales, according to rumors, will start this year. In addition to the roadster, the Geneva Motor Show will also feature two concepts of the new 159 — a sedan and a coupe, which are being worked on by the studios Italdesign Giugiaro and Stile Bertone.

It was previously reported that the next-generation Alfa Romeo 159 will be built on the Chrysler platform, and the model will be named after one of the classic cars of the Italian brand. Most likely, we are talking about the name Alfa Romeo Giulia, which was produced from 1962 to 1978.

The first Alfa Romeo 159 debuted five years ago, and in 2008 the model was modernized: thanks to the use of lighter materials in the chassis, brakes, and wheels, the car lost 45 kilograms. Last year at the Geneva Motor Show, a version of the 159 with a 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 200 horsepower was shown.
