In 2011, Alfa Romeo sold about 80 thousand Giuliettas, and last year the hatchback's sales barely reached 16 thousand units. Instead of this model, the company plans to launch a compact crossover that will compete for customers with the Audi Q3, BMW X2, and Range Rover Evoque.
This refers to the production version of the Alfa Romeo Tonale concept, presented in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. The crossover is built on a shortened Giorgio platform, which is already used in the production Stelvio. This same chassis will later become the basis for a number of new models, including the next-generation Giulietta hatchback.
