Due to the cancellation of the technical inspection, a problem arose with monitoring revenues from the transport tax. Since it was during the technical inspection that it was checked whether the owner had paid the due amount to the treasury. The issue was resolved quite simply - the tax was included in the cost of fuel. Now, when rumors leaked that the tax would be charged the old-fashioned way, they started talking again about resuming the technical inspection (to simplify control over the payment of the fee). This is one side of the coin, there is also another. Ukraine committed to introducing mandatory control of the condition of vehicles when signing the Association Agreement with the EU and joining the EU Directive on general technical inspection.

The real problem is not passing the technical inspection, but that the lion's share of drivers passed it formally, only on paper. Through certain people, almost everyone used to get the corresponding document without even bringing the car for inspection. I remember that at the time the cost of a formal technical inspection was in the range of 300-1000 UAH.

It is also unclear how to resolve the issue of double taxation. After all, today we already pay the transport tax when buying fuel. The project is still undergoing internal coordination in the Ministry of Finance. Nevertheless, there are chances that this procedure, so unpleasant for drivers, will still be returned.
