The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the relevant resolution at a meeting on July 14, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The document is designed to remove administrative barriers that previously complicated the legalization of such vehicles.
From now on, registration procedures can be carried out even when restrictions or prohibitions recorded in state databases apply to the vehicle. This also applies to cars whose owners are in the Unified Register of Debtors. The department notes that the innovation will allow for faster execution of court decisions and improve the accounting of property that has passed to the state.
Vehicle seizure is one of the sanctions provided for by the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular when the car was used in illegal activities or violations of customs regulations. This applies both to cars that were an instrument of crime and to those that were illegally taken possession of.
The updated rules allow state structures to more quickly and clearly formalize ownership rights to such vehicles, simplifying their further operation or sale. This matters not only for justice but also for economic circulation: equipment that was idle can now again bring benefits to the state.
