Starting from the first of July, Ukrainians will have to pay for customs clearance of cars — this is done to replenish the state treasury and combat corruption schemes. An exception is made only for electric vehicles, which will continue to be cleared free of charge. At the same time, the process has become simpler: now citizens can register a car independently through the "Diia" app.
In "Diia", it will be possible to fill out an electronic declaration and undergo registration. The launch of this function is planned before the first of July. The mechanism will work as follows:
·The owner specifies the VIN code of the vehicle
·The system automatically calculates the amount of the fee
·Information about the car is added
·The car is registered through the "Diia" portal
Full exemption from customs clearance is granted exclusively to electric cars, while for hybrids the rate will be twice lower.
How customs clearance is calculated in "Diia"
According to the updated legislation, for used cars with significant mileage, the procedure will become more favorable. The older the vehicle, the less the owner will have to pay.
For example: a new car with a 1.5-liter engine will cost 3960 euros, an eight-year-old car — 1530 euros, and a fifteen-year-old one — only 1260 euros. By 2027, customs clearance for a car that has turned 8 years old will decrease to 1081 euros.

In general, the total amount of the fee is determined by a complex formula. In addition to age, the engine volume and type are taken into account, as well as the luxury tax — it applies exclusively to new cars whose price exceeds 375 minimum wages.
Import of vehicles of Euro-2 standard and higher remains allowed as before. At the same time, vehicle certification becomes voluntary, which will save several thousand hryvnias.
