Let us remind you that the laws on cheap customs clearance were adopted by the Verkhovna Rada back in April, and the president signed them in May. They significantly reduce the amount of customs payments – on average, it will be about 1000 euros.

The excise tax on used cars is calculated by the formula: base rate Vе Fе. The base rate is:

  • cars aged 5-9 years – 0 euros;
  • cars aged 10 years – 25 euros;
  • cars aged 11 years – 50 euros;
  • cars aged 12 years – 75 euros;
  • cars aged 13 years – 100 euros;
  • cars aged 14 years – 125 euros;
  • cars aged 15 years and older – 150 euros.

Ve – car tax rate:

  • 0.25 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with engine displacement up to 2000 cubic cm;
  • 0.2 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with engine displacement 2001-3000 cubic cm;
  • 0.25 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with engine displacement 3001-4000 cubic cm;
  • 0.35 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with engine displacement 4001-5000 cubic cm;
  • 0.5 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with engine displacement over 5000 cubic cm.

Fe – a tax of 100 euros for petrol and diesel models. For hybrids and electric cars, it is zero.

However, there are a number of restrictions. One citizen of Ukraine will be able to register only one car, and it must be imported into the country before December 31, 2020.

In addition, the vehicle must meet the Euro-2 eco-standard or higher and be older than 5 years. It is also necessary to pay a fine of 8500 hryvnias for violating the terms of temporary import or transit.
