According to the draft law, excise taxes on used cars may not just decrease, but drop by dozens of times! The exception is cars with engines over 3 liters. In other cases, regardless of the type of fuel, the excise tax rate is reduced by 9-20 times!
The explanatory note to the draft law, authored by about 100 people's deputies, notes that against the background of devaluation, car sales have significantly decreased, leading to job cuts both in production and in car sales, and a reduction in budget revenues.
"Consumers cannot buy new imported cars due to their high cost in hryvnia, and used imported ones due to high excise tax rates, which makes their price uncompetitive," the explanatory note says.
The biggest reduction concerns cars with engines of 1-1.5 liters, for which the excise tax rate is proposed to be set at 0.063 euros per 1 cm3, compared to the current 1.761 euros. This is 28 times less!
