Many Ukrainians were delighted by the news about the abolition of the duty on used foreign cars, as they had already imagined themselves in a cheap foreign car imported from Europe and legalized for "pennies". But will everything really be as fabulous and profitable if the duty is indeed abolished?
Oleg Nazarenko, CEO of the All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers (VAAID), commented on this topic. He published his thoughts on his Facebook page.
In short, according to Nazarenko, duties should be removed immediately for new cars as well. If duties are zeroed out, the cost of cars will decrease by at least 12%, of which 10% is the duty itself, and 2% is the VAT of 20% charged on the amount of the duty.
