Many of our fellow citizens are not bothered by the fact that the traffic rules clearly state: drivers are strictly prohibited from using communication devices while holding them in their hand (except for drivers of emergency vehicles while performing urgent official tasks).

In order for drivers to take the requirements of the laws more responsibly, liability is also defined: for violating the ban on using communication devices while holding them in their hand, it is determined by Article 122 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, and then punished with a fine from 425 to 510 hryvnias. If an emergency situation arises as a result, the fine may increase to 850 hryvnias, and the violator may be deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 6 to 12 months.
However, even considerable fines do not force drivers to comply with the rules. To improve discipline and reduce the level of road traffic injuries on the road, the State Automobile Inspectorate of Ukraine will conduct an operation under the code name "Mobile Phone" from September 10 throughout the entire territory of the state. The event will last until September 30.
For drivers ready to be indignant, we remind you that the law does not prohibit the use of hands-free devices. In this case, you can calmly carry on a conversation without being distracted from the road. Although this is also a controversial issue. In fact, a number of studies have shown that even when using "hands-free" devices, driver attentiveness is significantly reduced. Therefore, if you have the opportunity, postpone the call to another time when you are not behind the wheel, or stop your car. Remember, the driver is responsible not only for their own safety but also for those around them. Therefore, always remember that self-confidence and irresponsibility on the road lead to irreparable tragedies.
