The statement by Tesla CEO Elon Musk about a potential partnership with Toyota Motor Corp has sparked a wave of speculation and enormous interest. It concerns a possible joint project, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.
Musk noted that within two to three years, an agreement between the companies could be expected. According to him, this project will be larger in scale than the previous collaboration between Toyota and Tesla Motors, which resulted in the creation of the electric RAV4 EV.
Recall that the first agreement between Tesla Motors and Toyota Motor Corp came in 2011. At that time, the American side supplied the Japanese with electric motors and batteries for the electric crossover RAV4. However, the project did not meet expectations: due to weak demand, it was discontinued.
