Opel Ampera is a joint product of the brand from Rüsselsheim and the General Motors concern, which at that time owned Opel (until 2017, after which the German brand came under the control of PSA). That is why it looks very similar to the Chevrolet Volt, a hybrid well known in Ukraine.

The first Opel electric car was born in 2011 – earlier than the Tesla Model S (2012), but its fame was short-lived. And, first of all, the reason was the excessively high price of the car – the Germans could not manage to reduce the cost of 41,000 euros. Nevertheless, Opel claims that the Ampera is a significant car, as it made a substantial contribution to the development of electric vehicles.

The car was equipped with an electric motor (150 hp) and a small gasoline engine, which served exclusively as a generator of energy for the battery (a similar solution is implemented, for example, in the BMW i3). The total capacity of the latter was 16 kWh, useful – 10 kWh, on electricity alone the car traveled from 40 to 80 km depending on driving style, road and weather conditions. The average fuel consumption was about 1.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, and the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions were 27 grams per kilometer of travel.
For some time, the Opel Ampera was sold, moreover, in 2012 it even managed to become the most popular electric car in Europe: then the electric car sold almost more than 6 thousand units. However, in total until 2015, just over 10,000 people bought the car. This officially ended its history.
