The organizers of the New York Auto Show have announced the postponement of its dates due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus, as reported by Motor1. The event will now start on August 28, with its closing scheduled for September 6.
"This is an extraordinary measure we have taken for the safety of everyone who will participate in the exhibition, prepare for it, or simply come to see the new products," explained Mark Schienberg, who heads the New York Automobile Dealers Association.
Earlier, due to the epidemic, the Swiss authorities decided to cancel the Geneva Motor Show, which was scheduled to start in early March. Also, the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, scheduled for April, will not take place in China.
In addition, the holding of the Moscow International Automobile Salon (MIAS), which traditionally takes place in the Russian capital in even years in August-September, has been called into question. The final decision on the fate of the event will be announced before the end of spring.
