At the same time, the former head of the company is still under investigation in the 'diesel scandal' case related to Volkswagen. The former head of Audi is suspected of deception and involvement in an advertising campaign that spread false information.
Rupert Stadler was detained by German law enforcement in June 2018. The top manager was placed in a pre-trial detention center in Augsburg, located in southern Germany. In October, the supervisory board of the Volkswagen concern decided to dismiss Rupert Stadler. The company explained this step by saying that the 55-year-old manager 'due to being in custody before trial cannot perform his duties.' At the same time, the parties agreed that the departure would be formalized by mutual agreement.
Currently, the functions of Audi's CEO are temporarily performed by Bram Schot. Before that, the 57-year-old specialist from the Netherlands managed the sales and marketing department of the German company. According to unconfirmed information, from January 1, 2019, the post of head of Audi will be taken by Markus Duesmann, who is currently responsible for purchasing and supply at BMW.
