According to information from company representatives, the problem affects several models of SUVs and sports cars, which may have rear axle locking during operation.
The expansion of the recall program, which started in December 2010, now includes an additional 26,751 vehicles of the Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brands. The list includes models such as Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Cadillac EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Colorado, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, as well as GMC Canyon, Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL.
It is worth recalling that in December of last year, the same American manufacturer announced the recall of 100,000 new crossovers Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox, and GMC Terrain of the 2011 model year, intended for the US, Canadian, and Mexican markets. The reason then was defects in the seat belt lock mechanisms. In a number of such vehicles, the seat belt locks for the driver and front passenger could fail in a collision, increasing the risk of injury. GM representative Alan Adler clarified that no cases of injury due to this defect were recorded.
