Preparation is currently underway for the launch of the new Skoda Octavia A5 at MKD production. Serial production of this model in MKD mode is scheduled for September 2010.
As is known, production of the first-generation Octavia (A4) was planned to be phased out back in 2005 — right after the appearance of the Octavia A5. However, due to high demand for the previous version and to avoid competition with the new model, it was decided to create a simplified modification, the Octavia Tour, based on it, with production extended until the end of 2010.
The Octavia Tour was assembled in the Czech Republic, Russia, Kazakhstan, Poland, India, and Ukraine. Over the entire production period in Ukraine (2002–2010), the Eurocar plant produced 43,485 units of the Octavia (A4), of which 23,437 were built using the MKD method.
The Skoda Octavia (A4) is the first model of the brand created and produced on the Volkswagen Group platform.
The premiere of the first-generation Octavia took place at the Paris Motor Show in September 1996. In the same year, serial production started at the new plant in Mlada Boleslav.
Currently, at Skoda dealers, you can still find the Octavia Tour — there are cars with the 1.8/110 kW engine and the sports package.
