As reported by India Today, a group of owners of luxury and supercars organized a rally to celebrate Independence Day. Law enforcement officers decided to take advantage of this to punish owners of exclusive cars for non-payment of luxury tax.

In particular, they were charged with registering cars not at their place of residence. Most wealthy Indians live in the state of Telangana, but they registered their "iron horses" in other regions, as taxes there are 14% lower.

Over several months, the police also tracked the movements of owners of expensive cars, who come from families of politicians and industrialists, and then decided to "catch" everyone at once during the celebratory rally. Young people aged 25 to 35 fell under the raid.

In addition to tax evasion, some "petrolheads" were also accused of a number of traffic violations.
Among the confiscated cars are Lamborghini Huracan, Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes-AMG GTR, cars of Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and other brands. Owners will be able to get their cars back after paying not only taxes but also fines.
