According to German media, initially the firefighters themselves noticed the fire – a large column of smoke was visible from their observation point, but within a few minutes they received a call about a burning car. In any case, the firefighters immediately responded to the call: they arrived at the scene within minutes and quickly extinguished the old 2006 Ford. However, by that time the car had already sustained such damage that it was no longer repairable and, accordingly, unfit for further use.

During the investigation of the incident, it turned out that the owner had mixed up the fuel during refueling – instead of diesel, he poured gasoline. The fact is that diesel engines have a higher compression ratio than gasoline engines, and gasoline itself is more flammable than "heavy fuel." As a result, filling gasoline into the diesel Ford led to the destruction of the injection system, followed by a fire in the engine compartment, which then spread to the entire car. As for the driver, he, fortunately, remained unharmed.
From this case follows a very useful lesson: when refueling a car, you need to be especially attentive and exercise extreme caution, since mistakes can lead to the most dire consequences.
