The A7 with the “L” prefix in its name is built on the basis of the regular A7 Sportback, and differs from the latter by a redesigned rear part and increased dimensions. Thus, the car received a classic sedan rear end (in particular, the trunk lid opens without lifting the glass), while the length of the new model is 5076 mm, and the wheelbase is 3026 mm (+98 mm relative to the liftback).
The car is aimed strictly at the Chinese market, where sedans are extremely popular. In the model hierarchy, it will be positioned between the A6L and A8L.
Under the hood of the Audi A7L is a 3.0-liter V6 with 340 hp and 500 Nm (the engine is supplemented with a “mild hybrid” system, i.e., a 48-volt starter-generator). The engine is mated to all-wheel drive and a 7-speed “robot” transmission.
At the start of sales, the new model will be available in a limited version A7L First Edition (with a production run of only 1000 units), which features rich equipment (for example, the package includes air suspension).
The A7L will arrive at dealers in the first quarter of 2022. The new model will be produced in China as well – at the joint SAIC-VW plant.
