Overall, in the first three months of this year, dealers managed to sell over 17 thousand cars, which exceeds the figure for the same period in 2019 by a fifth.

Almost all cars that were in dealers' warehouses were bought out, while the issue of new supplies remains open due to the difficult situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The rush demand for new cars in Belarus, according to experts, is provoked by the fall in the Belarusian ruble exchange rate, as well as the expectation of a shortage of popular models due to the suspension of many car plants around the world because of quarantine.

The Belarusian Automobile Association notes that by the end of the month, most dealers had almost no cars left, which will inevitably affect the decline in sales volumes.

The BAA expects that the negative dynamics will persist until the situation with the coronavirus stabilizes.

After the expected decline, the recovery of the Belarusian car market is forecast no earlier than August. However, even in the most favorable scenario, the final sales volumes for the year will be at least 20% lower than last year's.

In 2019, 64.5 thousand new cars were sold on the Belarusian market, which became a historical maximum for the country.
