In the markets of the largest EU countries, the situation in June was mixed: sales in France grew by 9.2%, in Spain by 8.0%, and in Germany by 4.2%. At the same time, demand in the UK fell by 3.5%, and in Italy by 7.3%.

Germany still holds the position of the largest car market in Europe. In a month, 341,308 passenger cars were sold in Germany.

France rose to second place in the ranking: its residents bought 252,216 cars in June.

The top three is closed by the UK, where sales amounted to 234,945 cars.

Among European automakers, VW Group took first place as usual, selling 390,701 cars in EU markets. Growth compared to June last year reached 13.3%.

The second position is held by PSA Group with 254,786 cars sold, which is 65.8% more than a year earlier.

The third result is from Renault Group: 192,843 cars, growth amounted to 4.7%.

In the first six months of 2018, 8,449,247 new passenger cars were registered in the European Union — 2.9% more than in the same period last year. Among the main markets, demand increased in Spain (+10.1%), France (+4.7%), and Germany (+2.9%), while sales in the UK fell by 6.3% and in Italy by 1.4%. It is separately noted that the EU countries that recently joined the union showed significant growth of 11.4% over the reporting period.
