Last month, almost all of the largest European Union markets showed good results, especially Spain (+13.7%), France (+13.7%), and Italy (+7.1%). In the United Kingdom, on the contrary, new car registrations fell by 12.2 percent. Demand for passenger cars in the new EU member states grew by 20.1% last month, thereby making a significant contribution to the overall EU market pool.

Germany continues to be the largest car sales platform in Europe, where 272,855 passenger cars were sold in a month.

The second place in the ranking is occupied by France, whose residents purchased 176,492 cars in October.

The top three is closed by the United Kingdom with a result of 158,192 cars sold.

As for European manufacturers, the first place is traditionally held by VW Group, which sold 286,774 of its cars on the European market, with a growth of 4.8 percent compared to last year's October.

In second place is PSA Group with a result of 189,876 cars sold, which is 74.1% higher than the October 2016 figure – the acquisition by the group of Opel and Vauxhall brands from GM had an effect.

And the third result in terms of the number of cars sold is Renault Group – 123,956 units (growth of 17.7%).

In total, over ten months of 2017, more than 12.8 million new passenger cars were registered in the European Union, which is 3.9% more than in the same period last year. Almost all major European markets contributed to the consolidated growth: +8.9% in Italy, +7.3% in Spain, +4.8% in France, +2.3% in Germany.
